Pink Apart Taksim is approx. 700 metres/0.4 mile from the main thoroughfare, called ¿stiklâl Caddesi¿¿stiklal Avenue or Independence Avenue. Almost completely car-free (except for emergency vehicles and a historic tourist tram), the pedestrian street is lined with Neoclassical and Art Nouveau buildings, housing patisseries, restaurants, pubs, clubs, theatres, and art galleries. The avenue leads east to Taksim Square (Taksim Meydan¿), a significant public space, shopping area, and public transportation hub, and the home of the Atatürk Cultural Center.
