The Blow Up Hall 5050 hotel was designed around an interactive video installation by the Mexican-Canadian electronic artist Rafael Lozano-Hemmer, whose work has been displayed at the Venice Biennale and at the Tate Modern in London. On entering the reception area, guests are greeted by a high-resolution screen that fragments surveillance footage of them into 2,400 small images, which are reassembled into a single distorted image. Other artworks are installed throughout the hotel. Instead of a room key, guests are given an iPhone that guides them to their unnumbered room via IT recognition technology. While focusing on cutting-edge art and design, the hotel doesn¿t neglect the comfort of its guests.
