In antiquity Trastevere ¿ "beyond the Tiber" ¿ was the first district established on the right bank of the Tiber and was inhabited by artisans, fishermen, merchants and communities of foreigners, connected with the activities of the nearby port. The historic centre is at your feet. Crossing the Tevere you are at the Pantheon, with Piazza Navona and Campo de' Fiori; on to the Campidoglio, to the Foro Romano, to the Coliseum, to Fontana di Trevi and then Trinità dei Monti, to the most famous roads for shopping; coming down from the other side of the hill of the Gianicolo, you are at San Pietro.
